#TGASW16 is a fantastic way to 'build the Kiwi entrepreneurial spirit'

Written by  SWTeam

A successful entrepreneur and businesswoman, Kim’s reputation for solid, shrewd, common sense has won her many fans ...

And many more to come from September 23rd! Business mentor Kim Hill is bringing her wealth and depth of experience in making ideas grow into thriving businesses to Tauranga Startup Weekend participants this year.

Can tell us in a few words... about your dealings with the entrepreneurial world so far?

Particularly over the last 15-20 years, I have had the good fortune to work with a very diverse range of entrepreneurs, from musicians to artists, to business people in the construction and building industry, professional service providers, clothing designers and many more. The wow factor for me is that there is so much amazing talent and spirit to achieve in our community and it’s so inspiring and exciting to work alongside.  If there’s one stand out thing about successful entrepreneurs, it’s that they are prepared to embrace failure, to get knocked back and, most of all, get back up and try it another way. The entrepreneurs who make it are comfortable staying in their courage zone (rather than their comfort zone). They’re hungry to follow their passion and purpose and seek out those who they’ll grow and learn from.

Why and how you can help Tauranga Startup Weekend participants?

As an entrepreneur and business person, having owned and operated a successful fitness centre in my late 20s and now running a successful advisory business, I am passionately committed to building the budding entrepreneur and business person’s capacity and knowledge. For me it’s about providing a toolkit.  The thing I love about my job is that each situation is unique. I’ll draw on my expertise and experience to help and support participants to identify their individual strengths and weaknesses, and will then share resources and strategies that will set them on the road to successful outcomes.

Why do you think TGASW is a good thing?

Where else could you get this type of support, guidance and learning? TGASW is a fantastic way to build the Kiwi entrepreneurial spirit.  It offers so much to those wanting to start a business. Being able to test a great idea with the support of a hand-selected committed group of experts is such an amazing gift. Getting together amongst like-minded people from a wide range of backgrounds to explore what it takes to be in business – how awesome is that.
