About Techweek

TechweekNZ is a nationwide initiative which works with local teams to create curated programmes focused on ‘finding local answers to global questions’. Techweek'17 included 287 events in 24 locations, and hosted more than 20,000 New Zealanders and visitors over 9 days. Last year the local initiative, Techweek Tauranga engaged 1200+ people across 11 events.

Techweek’s mission is to gain recognition for New Zealand globally as a beautiful country where world-leading solutions are born. It’s not just about showcasing leading edge digital, Bio, Ag or Med-tech etc, but rather about technology in its widest sense , amplifying brilliant ‘bundles of ideas’ including new business models, processes and thinking to address and solve big global challenges. This years theme is: ‘innovation that’s good for the world’.

Techweek nationally continues to grow, as does the local Techweek Tauranga which brings together entrepreneurs, business owners, investors and young people interested in technology and innovation.

Why Techweek?

By bringing together events in our region during Techweek, as part of the the week-long programme, Tauranga and the Western Bay Region is seen playing its important part in the New Zealand ecosystem. It supports our regional positioning as an innovative, entrepreneurial, future-focused, and internationally competitive Bay of Plenty of Innovation.

About Tauranga

Tauranga, one of New Zealand's most progressive cities, is the location of the largest port and a fast growing, global research, development, entrepreneurship and commercialisation ecosystem built on a solid platform of collaboration.

Its economic development agency was the first in NZ, initiated by the business community. Its centre for entrepreneurship is a social enterprise enabled by its local entrepreneurs. Its Bay of Plenty Tertiary Partnership and Campus is unique, delivering programmes from foundation through to PhD.

Add a sunny climate, relaxed beach-life atmosphere, beautiful environment, and the future-focused values of its interconnected people, it is not surprising its known as the 'Bay of Plenty of Innovation’.
